The Best Places For A Date in Oxford

Love is always in the air in Oxford, a city awash with the promise of amour and enchantment, which makes it the ideal place to spend the most romantic day of the year. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, our boutique hotel in Oxford thought we’d help you plan the perfect date that’s guaranteed to get those sparks flying with your loved one, whether it’s your first date or your fiftieth.

Hopeless romantic? Explore Blenheim Palace

If you or your date are a hopeless romantic then head to Blenheim Palace to experience a palace fit for a fairy-tale during your stay at our Oxford hotel. A masterpiece of Baroque architecture, Blenheim Palace was the birthplace of Winston Churchill. The fascinating history means you won’t be short of things to talk about and afterwards you can take a romantic stroll through the extraordinary gardens, with a beautiful waterfall and hundreds of different flowers you’ll struggle to find a more dreamy place.

Traditionalist? Indulge in a romantic meal

If you’re a traditional romantic, then wining and dining your date is a timeless classic that’s always a winner. After all, food is the way to our hearts. Oxford has a huge variety of tantalising restaurants to choose from close to our boutique hotel in Oxford, but we’d particularly recommend the world famous Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons if you’re looking to splash the cash and really impress your date. From rooftop delights to riverside romance, there’s something to suit every couple.

Adventurer? Go punting!

Oxford is Britain’s answer to Venice, the capital of romance, so why not pretend you’re in a Rom-Com and take a romantic cruise down the river in a punt. Punting has been an Oxbridge tradition since the 1880s, so celebrate the city’s culture in style with strawberries and champagne. Don’t forget some blankets too; it might be a bit nippy but don’t worry you can warm up afterwards in our cosy Oxford hotel!

Outdoorsy? Visit the Botanical Gardens

If you just love the outdoors and are willing to brave the winter cold in the name of love, then take your date to the Botanical Gardens this Valentines Day. With thousands of different plants you can enjoy a romantic walk taking in the rainbow of colours for a vibrant and beautiful day. There are no restaurants on site so take the opportunity to take a picnic and snuggle up together amongst the greenery, again we recommend taking some blankets!
