Festival season isn’t over just yet

You might think that by September festival season is over, but around Oxford festival season is year-round.

If you are having a well-earned break at our hotel in Oxford city centre when the children have gone back to school, here’s our guide to Oxfordshire festivals with a twist this autumn.

Bitten Oxford Street Food Fair

Located in the Oxford Castle Quarter this mini food festival should be on your list of things to do during your stay at our boutique hotel in Oxford. With tasty treats from local producers, the Bitten Bar serving local craft beers, soft drinks & (of course) an assortment of gin, local produce & craft stores and live music there is something for everyone. The fair is held on the first Saturday of the month.

Oxford Wine Festival

What more need we say? Held right across the street from our Oxford hotel in the Oxford Union buildings (we even have a suit that looks out over it), the wine festival brings together leading British wine merchants along with regional specialists and English vineyards. Whether you are a wine novice or connoisseur this festival is sure to tickle the taste buds. As well as the wine there will be live music, food and tutored tastings.

Oxford Open Doors

Every September the Oxford Preservation trust open the doors of 200 places to over 20,000 visitors to celebrate the city and its people.  During the second weekend of September places that are usually closed to the public will be open. This year’s theme is extraordinary people, so you can expect to see behind the doors of many iconic buildings. This is a festival that celebrates the history and heritage of Oxford, giving you the opportunity to climb towers, walk through tunnels and visit Oxfords hidden spaces. Places you will be able to visit are the former hospital- Radcliffe Infirmary, Nuffield Department of Medicine, Oxford County Hall and The University of Oxford.

Thame Food Festival

If you fancy a trip out of the city during your stay, then the Thame Food Festival is a must. A weekend full of yummy food and drink!! There will be plenty to see and do including children’s activities, hearing dog demonstrations, music, a gin tent, artisan and street food, chef demonstrations and much more.
