Time for a tipple in Oxford this spring

Oxfordshire has a rich history in making some of the country’s favourite drinks, so why not try something a little different this spring and visit one of many breweries, wineries and distilleries? In this blog, our boutique Oxford hotel explores some of our favourite tipple making tours in the county!

Chiltern Valley Winery and Brewery

If you love wine, our hotel in Oxford recommends Chiltern Valley Winery. Take a trip out of the city to this wonderful vineyard, set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and overlooks the beautiful Hambleden Valley. Experience a two-hour tour of the winery and a tutored tasting of wines, ales and liqueurs. Once you have tried the amazing tipples on offer, head to the cellar shop where you can buy a huge number of wines, ales and liqueurs as well as a range of specialist food produce.

The Wychwod Brewery

If you are a beer lover this is one tour not to be missed – the Wychwod Brewery is the brains behind the legendary IPA and Hobgoblin brews. The tour lasts around 2 hours and takes you through the brewing process followed by a tasting of a number of beers. Following the tour head to the brewery shop where you can purchase all the beers, you have tasted on the tour!

The Oxford Artisan Distillery

If your tastes run to harder stuff, The Oxford Artisan Distillery (TOAD), just 15 minutes from our boutique hotel in Oxford, will be right up your street. Makers of gin, vodka, whisky and absinthe, TOAD is the only distillery in the world to be using ancient heritage grains.  Book a behind the scenes experience, where you will discover its approach to distilling and the production process that makes these amazing spirits.
