Oxfords top dining spots

The Oxfordshire countryside is often associated amazing food that matches its wonderful surroundings. Old pubs that serve some of the county’s finest locally sourced meat and veg. These are often positioned as the perfect retreat for enjoying after wandering the city’s streets, marvelling at history and architecture sublime.

But our Boutique hotel believes there are also well-known Oxford haunts that are worth staying in the city for, as well as little known gems down quiet streets that take a little finding. Here are our favourites.

Oli’s Thai

Some of the best Thai food outside South East Asia, perhaps even Thailand itself. Everything is evocative of the country – fragrant and salty, punchy and complex. The rice is fluffy, and the Chang beer washes it all down nicely. There is no need to hop on a plane to experience a taste of Thailand when you can have a truly authentic Thai experience right here in Oxford.

Brasserie Blanc

Raymond Blanc's Oxford restaurant is the prefect choice when you are looking for something a little bit special in Oxford.  Brasserie Blanc is celebrating its 22nd anniversary this year as the Oxford Venue first opened its doors in 1996. The restaurant is all about  French cuisine; ‘honest food, cooked with the heart’ is Raymonds motto. The menu changes with the seasons; this winter you can have a two-course set menu complete with a specially priced glass of wine.

Kazbar

Kazbar, fuses Moroccan and Spanish tapas. Think hummus and warm pitta, patatas bravas, rich octopus in tomato sauce, butter beans braised for just enough time to soften, but hold a little bite. The mojitos are to die for and the service is always friendly. The decor is warm and inviting with cosy little corners where you can sit and watch the world go by. This is definately a restaurant where you can sit and take in the wonderful atmosphere.

The Oxford Kitchen

Finally, The Oxford Kitchen, offers ‘relaxed fine dining’ with food that is faultless. You can expect a warm welcome on arrival and a dining experience where the food matches the service. Every dish that emerges from the kitchen is beautifully presented and tastes wonderful. The menu is usually short and considered – traditional French done very well. Sometimes that’s all you want.
