One of Oxford’s oldest pubs, serving pints since 1242, The Bear Inn is well versed in serving locals and tourists. Aside from serving quality drinks and food, the pub is well known for its quirky interior showcasing a large collection of ties dating back to the 1900s.

The Kings Arms

Located opposite the Bodleian Library, The Kings Arms is said to be Oxford’s most famous watering hole, loved by student, locals and tourists. It is also rumoured to be the brainiest pub, as it is said to have the highest IQ per square foot of anywhere in the world!

The Turf Tavern

Referred to as a hidden gem, The Turf Tavern is a quintessentially British pub just behind Hertford College with a secret entrance. Over the years, many celebrities and public figures have drank and dined at the Turf, from Tony Blair and Margaret Thatcher to Stephen Hawking and the cast of the Harry Potter movies.

The Eagle and Child

With strong literary connections, The Eagle & Child pub is well-known as being the meetup place for The Inklings, an Oxford writers’ group which included J.R.R Tolkien and C.S.Lewis. It was here that C.S.Lewis reportedly distributed proofs for the famous novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
